Why Building Automation?
Everyone is becoming very conscious of rising energy costs and the effects of greenhouse gas emissions on the environment. Building automation is very effective in reducing both the energy costs and environmental costs of operating a building. Because of this, most systems start by automating the operation of the heating, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Automating the interior and exterior lighting systems usually provides the next-biggest gains in energy efficiency. But, there are many other potential benefits as well. Modern building automation systems provide remote monitoring and alerting capabilites that can warn operators of a failure or abnormal condition in a building.
The systems we offer also allow for remote access via the Internet, allowing building managers and technicians to modify system programs and operations remotely, without the need to dispatch a technician to the building.
There may be important safety advantages to integrated building systems as well. For example, an alarm triggered by the fire system may programmed to close fresh air dampers and turn on exhaust fans in that portion of the building.
These systems can also capture and log data from the various systems in the building, and graph this data to show performance history and trends.
Modern Building Automation systems can connect the following types of building systems into a single, integrated platform with these benefits:
1. Exterior Systems:
Automated parking systems, parking lot access gates, outdoor surveillance cameras and security, outside lighting, and landscape systems can be coordinated for maximum safety, efficiency and visual effect.
2. Building Access/Surveillance/Life Safety
Track time and attendance, credential enrollment, visitors, control room access, manage fire/life safety systems/resolve alarms from any authorized web browser, anywhere.
3. HVAC/Mechanical
Monitor multi-system performance, identify and resolve isses, change operational parameters in real time to respond to shifting climate, occupant, and business dynamics.
4. Gas/Contamination
Monitor smoke and other possible contaminants and detect biological agents. Continuously monitor and log air quality throughout your facilities. Trigger alerts when parameters go out of boundaries.
5. Elevators
Interface with elevator systems for real-time maintenance and monitoring. Override control in case of emergencies.
6. Interior Lighting
Optimize interior lighting for energy conservation and comfort. Schedule holiday and after-hour lighting, tenant overrides. Reduce utility costs, maximize daylight harvesting, and create the perfect lighting for card access, life safety and esthetic appeal based on time of day.
7. Utility Monitoring
Manage usage, analyze rates, reduce costs. Proactively manage your energy budgets, benchmark facilities, and analyze rates for electricity, water, gas and other utilities. Forecast consumption based on historical usage trends, weather patterns and cyclical occupant needs.
8. IP Connectivity
All facility systems can be accessed on an IP network so you can remotely manage and monitor your facilities from any duly authorized IP-connected device.
9. Intelligent Restrooms
Monitor the flush values and water consumption during occupied and un-occupied periods, track re-supply of consumables, and monitor maintenance alerts to ensure that every restroom is operating properly.
10. Digital Signage
Use digital signage to broadcast real-time life safety and emergency communications throughout the facility. Distribute other information such as meeting room schedules, energy/green building awareness, general emergency preparedness, and company/tenant announcements.
11. Intelligent Kitchens
Monitor kitchen equipment and systems in real time for both safety and hygene. Monitor ovens, beverage dispensers, refrigerators, and hoods to make sure all equipment is running optimally. Track energy usage to help reduce consumption and lower utility costs.
